| Snoopy's "Joe Cool Summer" Featured Turn down the heat this summer 2007 and celebrate "Snoopy's Joe Cool Summer" in Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County, California. The beloved pooch of the PEANUTS comic strip is the star of the final PEANUTS on Parade tribute to its creator, Charles M. Schulz. Visitors are invited to see and take pictures of 100 "Joe Cool" statues hanging out on street corners and other locations throughout the city. This year's statue features Snoopy in his "Joe Cool" character, complete with sunglasses and copping an attitude. Each statue is five-feet tall and weighs several hundred pounds. From May 16-20, 2007 the general public is invited to watch the "Joe Cool" statues come to life at the Artist Paint-Off at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds' Grace Pavilion, 1350 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa. This free event is an extremely visual experience as talented local artists transform the plain white statues into colorful works of art while hundreds of PEANUTS lovers stroll through the pavilion throughout the Paint-Off. September 22 "Snoopy's Joe Cool Festival" and a live auction at the ball field next to the Charles M. Schulz Museum include food, fun, crafts for kids and live music. The community event runs from 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. with a live auction of "Joe Cool" statues to follow at 4 p.m. People will be able to bid on the statues to proudly display in their businesses or homes. September 23 Unveiling of a permanent bronze PEANUTS statue at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, made possible by the PEANUTS on Parade program. Local artists who will paint the statues are sponsored by supporting businesses or individuals in the community. Previous "PEANUTS on Parade" events featuring Charlie Brown and Woodstock statues raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. Those funds have gone toward local artist scholarships and the permanent bronze statue to be unveiled in September at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa. The statue will be visible to visitors now able to travel to the wine country airport via Horizon Air's daily non-stop service to and from Los Angeles and Seattle.
