A Room With a View -- and Rover, Too -- at Little River Inn

Little River Inn, famous for its family hospitality on the Mendocino Coast since 1939, now welcomes the family pet.

Despite staff's claims to the contrary, House Cat Abbey Rose is not amused.

But pet owners are thrilled. Now they may stay in a Luxury Oceanview Room (king bed or two queens, fireplace, Jacuzzi bath) and step out onto their own balcony with Spot-and Tiger, too, if the family includes two pets, which is the pet limit per room.

Six comfortable Fireplace Rooms (king or two double beds) with oceanview decks are also Pet Friendly, as well as the lovely Rose Cottage with two rooms-adjoining if requested-each with two queen beds, deck, and garden or golf course view.

Everyone at the inn's front desk has favorite pet guests-the two tiny white Maltese that would kiss on command, or the elegant, surprisingly gentle Rhodesian Ridgeback, or the Old English Sheepdogs, Molly and Beckett.

According to General Manager Printha Platt, "We've had retired
Guide Dogs, every kind of terrier mix, a Shih-tzu, a Basenji, Poodles, Labs, Golden Retrievers, and a Pug with a face only a mother could love."

Pet guests are pampered with special sheets to cover the furniture, towels for muddy coats, a food?and?water dish, waste bags, and a welcome basket of animal treats. Human guests bringing pets will be asked to sign Little River Inn's pet guidelines. There is a $25 fee per night per pet.
