Vancouver's Opus Hotel Matches Rooms to Your Personal Style

Known for its residential feel and boutique flair, Vancouver's Opus Hotel has now taken its guestroom décor to a new level by adding personalized books and CDs to every room.

The CDs and books were selected to complement the hotel's five lifestyle-inspired guestroom décor schemes.

The muse of one room, Susan, is a self-professed fashionista and pop culture junkie from Toronto whose blue-hued room is described as "stylish and sophisticated."

Guests in Susan's room will enjoy the soothing sounds of Dido, and books on fashion and design. Meanwhile, those who identify with Billy - a creative party boy from London whose "artful & eclectic" green room provides an artist's retreat - can rock out to Lenny Kravitz while perusing books on the art of Zen.

Guests of New York doctor Mike's room will enjoy cranberry red walls and bold, minimalist décor, and can flip through the "Worst Case Scenario Survival Book" while tapping their feet to the pulse of Madonna. In LA-based drama queen Dede's room, which is adorned with faux-fur fabrics and dramatic furnishings, guests can pick up tips from "The Art of Flirting" while listening to house music compiled by Hed Kandy.

All guestrooms are supplied with 2 to 3 books and 3 CDs, while suites have 5 to 10 CDs. Opus Hotel's own compilation, Magnum Opus, features chill out music that appeals to all personality types and can be found in every guestroom.

"A frequent guest once told me that staying at Opus was like having a cool friend with a great sense of style throw him the keys to his apartment for the weekend," says Opus Hotel General Manager Daniel Craig.

"This is exactly what we're striving to achieve. We don't claim to provide the clichéd 'home away from home'. Staying at Opus is more like staying at a friend's place. And what do you do when you stay at a friend's? You snoop around and sample their books and CDs."

Located in fashionable Yaletown, close to Vancouver's best restaurants, spas and boutiques, Opus is home to bistro moderne Elixir and the dramatic Opus Bar.
