Ontario Hosts the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival

The Niagara Grape and Wine Festival hosts a spectacular show with world renowned Ontario Icewine taking center stage at the 12th Niagara Icewine Festival, January 19 -- 28.

The opening act is the annual Xerox "Images of Winter" Gala Evening and Silent Auction. Situated in the Penthouse Dining Room of the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel, in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Over 30 Ontario wineries will present over 100 award winning Icewines, making it Canada's largest public Icewine tasting.

Placed conspicuously between the wineries, a dozen food stations offer the finest in Canadian cuisine. With the breathtaking view of the partially frozen Niagara Falls as its backdrop, it's no wonder these $150 CDN. tickets are a holiday favourite.

Weekend one continues with a spectacular Icebar carved from a 7000 lb. block of ice. The Twenty Valley Icebar is 18 feet long, engraved with ornate scenes of Canadiana and is placed right in the centre of Main Street in Jordan Station. The main street is closed for Icewine tasting from over 20 wineries, ice carving demonstrations, food and entertainment.

Niagara's famous wine route is prepared to welcome visitors from around the globe for an expanded ten days of tours, tastings, seminars, samplings, and food pairings, all placing Icewine in the spotlight. A Niagara Icewine Discovery Pass enables the holder access to exclusive offers and complimentary events at 30 participating wineries, only $30 CDN. per pass.

New to the Niagara Icewine Festival, an Ice Art Exhibit by famed Canadian artist Gordon Halloran. Mr. Halloran is an internationally recognized artist, whose unique "ice art" was featured at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. He has since gone on to present shows around the globe.

For the Icewine Festival he will be creating a special piece of "ice art" that can only be viewed for the duration of the Festival, never to be seen again. Admission to the exhibit is included with the purchase of the Niagara Icewine Discovery Pass or $5.00 without.

Historic Niagara-on-the-lake is the setting for weekend two, with a spectacular Icebar placed downtown and accompanied by great tastings and entertainment. An encore presentation, the "Icewine Classic Weekend" is an incredible Icewine experience for only $695.00 CDN.

Guests who purchase the 'Classic Weekend Pass' get a 'behind the scenes' look at Niagara's culinary and winery industries with exclusive galas, winemaker's dinner and educational seminars. Accommodation for two nights at Prince of Wales Hotel, one of Vintage Hotels Niagara luxurious resort hotels, is included with purchase of the 'Classic Weekend', as is all transportation to the culinary and winery seminars around the Niagara Region.

The winemaker's dinner on Saturday night is a Classic favourite. Celebrity Chefs tempt weekend visitors with Niagara's best, paired perfectly with Ontario's acclaimed Icewines. Experience the best that Niagara has to offer.
